Suria KLCC Celebrates Fifth Anniversary In Style

Suria KLCC recently celebrated its Fifth Anniversary as Asia’s premier shopping experience in great style, and with much pomp and pageantry!

HRH Tengku Amir Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Raja Muda of Selangor was one of the first few riders on the gorgeous Italian-crafted carousel unveiled on 8 May, 2003 at the concourse level of Suria KLCC which kicked off a month-long celebration of fun, frolic, special events and promotions for visitors to the shopping centre.

To challenge the shopping and stylish skills of its customers, Suria KLCC further organized a Fashion Flair competition, a grueling contest consisting of one heat round, a black and white themed semi-finalist round and the “bohemian” themed finalist round which finally revealed a winner on 11 May, 2003. She is 25 year old Ms. Natasha Hashim, a fashion executive who ingeniously assembled a scarf and shawl combination for a top and wore a multi layered long skirt with matching accessories to create the ultimate Bohemian Malaysian lass!

Not forgetting an important patron of some of its retail outlets, Suria KLCC spectacularly organized a Teddy Bear Picnic on 25 May, 2003 for all teddies and their young chaperons at the Suria KLCC park where fun activities and games were organized from morning until noon. It was an amazing scene of kids hand-in-paw with their teddies showing each other off!

Exactly one month past its fifth birthday and to coincide with the birthday celebrations of His Majesty, Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday on 7 June, 2003, Suria KLCC donated Sudut Suria KLCC, a Family Resource Centre, to Kuala Lumpur Hospital Pediatric Institute which was officiated by DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah binti Al-Marhum Tengku Abdul Rashid on 8 June, 2003. Sudut Suria KLCC is the culmination of donations collected at the Charity Bear Auction held by Suria KLCC in 2001 and serves as an information and education centre for growth and development of young patients and their families.
