
Intellectual Property Rights Conference – Officiated by
Tan Sri Dato’ Muhyiddin Yassin
Tan Sri Dato Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin, Minister of
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs officiated the launch and
delivered a keynote address to some of Malaysia’s top intellectual
property community members at an Intellectual Property Rights
(IPR) Conference themed “Trademark Development and Branding
Strategies” on 15 August 2003.
It was organized by the Intellectual Property Alumni Association
of Malaysia (IPAAM) a non-profit association dedicated to the
dissemination of intellectual property awareness to the Malaysian
public, trade and industry, together with the Perbadanan Harta
Intelek Malaysia (PHIM), Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Japan Institute
of Invention and Innovation (JIII).
Among the highlights of the Conference include local and regional
perspectives on the trends, development, issues and challenges
faced by Intellectual Property owners throughout the region including
country outlooks and perspectives from leaders in the field of
Intellectual Property from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines,
and Thailand.
The Conference also featured IPAA Malaysia President Chuah Jern
Ern speaking on the importance of ‘Brand Management and
How It Can Boost Business Performance and the Bottom Line’,
which covered topics such as creation of a brand, steps for developing
a successful trademark and how trademarks can be used to boost
the income of a business.
