Cisco Raises bar in Gigabit Ethernet Switching
On 24 June, 2003 Cisco Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd
launched its next-generation stackable switch platforms, the Cisco®
Catalyst® 3750 Series with Cisco StackWise™ Technology
and the Catalyst 6500 Series, raising the bar in desktop switching.
The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series provides unprecedented
stackable resiliency and ease of operation while the Catalyst
6500 Series provides the scalable intelligent multilayer switching
performance while delivering Gigabit Ethernet performance.
Together, the switches allow for enterprise, service-provider
networks and mid-sized organizations to significantly increase
the operating efficiency of their local-area networks (LANs)/wide-area
networks (WANs) while enabling them to adapt to changing business
needs.
Both the Catalyst 3750 Series and Catalyst 6500
series leverage a forward-thinking architecture that supports
an unparalleled range of data and voice services. At the heart
of the Catalyst 3750 series is Cisco’s new StackWise technology,
a revolutionary stacking architecture that provides a 32-Gbps
stack interconnect.
This Cisco innovation brings customers additional
benefits such as maximum network uptime, comprehensive network
security, investment protection, a longer product lifecycle, and
operational consistencies allowing customers to standardize on
a single platform with unparalleled services integration.
With millions of new devices becoming IP aware,
there is a need for networking products to support the IPv6 protocol.
Customers can deploy the Catalyst 3750 platform knowing it is
IPv6-capable in hardware and as a result can support this protocol
with a future software upgrade.
