On 9 December 2003, Montblanc Cultural Foundation, a non-profit organisation, presented its prestigious Montblanc Arts Patronage Award 2003 to Tuan Syed Mohamad Albukhary, Founder and Director of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. The Award was presented by Mr. Norbert Platt, President and Chief Executive Officer, Montblanc International to Tuan Syed Mohamad Albukhary and was witnessed by Guest-of-Honour, Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin Yassin, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs of Malaysia at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Besides Malaysia, this prestigious award are also presented to deserving individuals in China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and North America. Besides the Award, Tuan Syed Mohamad Albukhary also received a special version of the Montblanc Limited Edition Patron of Art 2003 - Hommage à Nicolaus Copernicus 888 fountain pen and Euro 15,000 (approximately RM60,000) to give to an arts project of his choice. In response to the Award, Tuan Syed Mohamad Albukhary said he would donate the prize money back to the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia in the area of conservatory.
