Nike Sportswear Cranks Up The Heat At Its Summerdelic Show
Nike Influencers Take to the Runway to Present the Summer 2009 Collection

Nike Sportswear raised the temperature in the city with the spectacular unveiling of its 2009 Summer collection. As would be expected of the unconventional sports brand, Nike took a run-off-the-mill fashion show and turned into a summer music festival right in the middle of Mid Valley Megamall.

The quiet shuffling feet of mall-goers, were quickly roused when emcees for the evening, Rudy and Ean from Hitz.FM, took the stage and got the party started with their entertaining repertoire punctuated with trademark rib-tickling jokes.

While the crowd bopped to the rhythms of indie DJs Twilight Actiongirl, Malaysia’s up-and-coming hip hop artiste, Arabyrd, jumped on stage to kick start the Nike Sportswear Summer 2009 Fashion Show. Arabyrd’s energetic performance peppered with witty lyrics opened the show as models sashayed down the catwalk to her infectious rhymes.

"The synergy between fashion and music is truly evident here.  The trend spotting Nike Sportswear has always caught the attention of many music artistes around world.  Malaysia is no different.  At this evening’s Nike Summerdelic show we are glad to bring about this spectrum that saw outstanding performers from sports, fashion and music coming together and bringing to life that special connection," said Mr. Raymond Liew, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Malaysia.

The headliner for the evening was the Nike Sportswear 2009 Summer Collection featuring the remastered icons including the Cortez and Eugene Track Jacket, underlining Nike’s innovative prowess of fusing original lines with design elements whilst staying true to Nike’s rich sporting heritage.

Another emphasis for summer 2009 is the newly introduced Aqua Sports series that saw Nike Sportswear taking cues from Nike All Condition Gear’s (“ACG”) history to create the colorful line. Nike Sportswear’s Aqua Sports series was fashioned by adapting colors and materials from ACG to meet consumers’ obsession with the outdoors, utilizing a palette of bright colors, elemental graphics and new materials. The lightweight provides comfort for both outdoor activity and day-to-day wear and from the water to the city.
