DuPont® launches new insect control tool in Malaysia
Malaysian Farmers to Benefit from Management of Costly Insect Pests

DuPont has officially unveiled to the Malaysian market its new insecticide, DuPont® Prevathon®, after it received registration approvals from the Pesticide Board of Malaysia.  Prevathon® is powered by Rynaxypyr®, a breakthrough in agricultural chemistry from DuPont. The product offers growers long-lasting activity and controls almost all economically important lepidopteran pests.

When Prevathon® is applied on crops, pests quickly stop feeding, and growers experience nearly immediate crop protection. Prevathon® is long lasting and rainfast, meaning it works under a range of growing conditions.

“The registration of Prevathon® marks the beginning of a new horizon in pest control for DuPont customers in Malaysia,” said Ong Peng Yeo, Business Manager, DuPont Crop Protection Malaysia.

While the product’s new mode of action is capable of controlling pests resistant to other insecticides, the selectivity of Rynaxypyr® conserves beneficial insects like bees – thus making it an excellent addition to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.

Rynaxypyr® is setting a new standard for insecticides because of its excellent environmental profile with respect to mammals, fish and birds and high insecticidal potency.  Due to its favorable profile and recommended low use rates, Rynaxypyr® is a sound choice for growers, farm workers and the environment.

DuPont recently garnered the R&D 100 Award for Rynaxypyr® as an advanced insect control product that optimizes the grower's potential to produce high-quality, high-yielding crops.  Rynaxypyr® was one of the 100 most innovative products chosen by US-based Research & Development Magazine in 2008.

“DuPont will continue to reinvent itself in the agricultural marketplace.  Whether it’s launching new products from our promising pipeline or developing new answers to the changing needs of today’s growers, we are building momentum in our strategy to advance agriculture and enhance sustainable food production and security in line with the Malaysian government’s drive towards self sufficiency,” added Ong.
