The Autumn Winter 2008 Bernard Chandran Collection

The independent sexuality of Marie Antoinette is the inspiration behind Bernard Chandran’s AW 2008 collection.

Long jackets and coats sport intricately embroidered cameos, accentuating Bernard Chandran’s signature workmanship and detailing.  The cape makes a comeback defining the regal mood and focusing on design innovation as full-length capes morph into beautifully constructed coats.

Dresses feature-hidden corset detailing, emphasising the bust line but with a softened silhouette suggesting both self-assurance and romantic fairytale innocence.  Trousers are designed with simple detailing at the waist, skimming the thigh and flaring to the floor. Throughout the collection, square, round and oval cameo designs appear as both jewelled accessories and also skilfully crafted fabric origami within a textile frame.

A palette of neutrals including brown and black is injected with rich olive green, royal blue, shimmering copper and spiced up with leopard print.

Paris trained Bernard Chandran has developed some of the most innovative techniques in pattern cutting in this collection.  Bernard Chandran is the Cult Classic.

Showing for his fifth time at London Fashion Week Bernard Chandran’s collection stormed through the glitterati of London ensuring his title as the “Prince of Fashion” remained surpassed.
