Games
Samsung

inspirational role models who have been chosen to participate in the
Malaysian leg of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. This will be the
second time since 1964, for the Olympic torch to pass through Malaysia
where Malaysians can witness the most prestigious sporting symbol
up-close. The Beijing Olympic Torch Relay will have the longest route
in the Olympic Torch Relay history, involving 21,880 torchbearers who
will cover a total distance of 137,000 km in 130 days.
The four role models who will be carrying the torch on April 21 in
Kuala Lumpur are Yang Berbahagia Datin Paduka Sharifah Mazlina Syed
Abdul Kadir, Ras Adiba Radzi, Nicol Ann David and Lee Chong Wei. They
were meticulously chosen by Samsung Malaysia Electronics for their
notable contributions to society and their tenacity to overcome
challenges in their lives to achieve success in their respective
fields.
“Samsung is thrilled and honored to have these four role models with
outstanding and inspiring stories to tell to be Samsung Torchbearers.
Each of them truly reflect the Olympic value and represent what the
Olympic Games are all about,” said Mr. Min Yong Ho, Managing Director
and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
“By their participation, Samsung hopes to inspire all Malaysians to
continue pursuing their goals, by showing them that dreams can come
true through their unique torchbearer experience. These
individuals, with their relentless spirit of never giving up truly
exemplified the theme ‘pushing the limits for a better life’. Likewise,
Samsung continually pushes the limit and strives to exceed expectations
of our business partners, customers and society to keep pace with the
growing global operations, rapid changes in the world economy, and
escalating competition from well-established rivals,” Min continued.
The four role models with their undefeated spirit and passion have
undoubtedly become national heroes in their respective fields. Datin
