Montblanc Partners With UNICEF, Tun Dr. Mahathir And Tiara Jacquelina
In The "Power To Write Campaign"

Montblanc, in continued partnership with UNICEF, has announced a special collaboration with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, former prime minister of Malaysia and Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina, actress and producer of the famed Puteri Gunung Ledang (PGL) production to launch the "Power to Write Campaign" for the very first time in Malaysia.

The "Power to Write Campaign" is a global initiative started by Montblanc in a worldwide effort to promote increased literacy among children.  In this program, Montblanc will release a special-edition of the Brand’s iconic pen, the Meisterstück 149 with an optional signature engraving bearing a well known personality and packaged in a sleek black jacket touting the campaign slogan, “The Power to Write.”  In Malaysia, customers can have the option of purchasing the Meisterstück 149 special edition bearing the signature of Tun Dr. Mahathir or Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina.  For every pen sold, USD 149 (approximately RM550) will be donated in support of the UNICEF education programs in Latin America, Africa, and Asia in particularly India.

Across the world, Tun Dr. Mahathir and Datin Seri Tiara now join 149 prominent personalities from politics, arts and culture, business, sports and entertainment industry including names like Lucy Liu, (Charlie’s Angles), Barry Zito (San Francisco Giants), Goran Visnjic (ER), Plácido Domingo (world-renowned operatic tenor) and Diahann Carroll (Award winning actress and singer) and many others in the fight against illiteracy.

149 is a number that has a written history for Montblanc. For generations the Montblanc Meisterstück 149 has been the embodiment of the classical fountain-pen, unsurpassed in design and perfection.  Since its introduction in 1924, the Meisterstück 149 soon became an icon for pure writing culture and remains, to this day, the preferred writing instrument for royalties and other distinguished personalities.  Recently, the Museum of Modern Art in New York paid homage by recognising the Meisterstück 149 as a design classic and the pen has since become a permanent display of the reputed Museum.
