Launches Campaign To Select 18 Malaysian Torchbearers For Beijing 2008

Malaysia Electronics today launched its campaign to select torchbearers
for the Olympic Torch Relay in Malaysia. At an event graced by YAM
Tunku Tan Sri Imran ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, President of the Olympic
Council of Malaysia, Samsung Malaysia Electronics announced that 18
Malaysians who exemplify the theme ‘pushing the limits for a better
life’, would be offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part
in the Olympic Torch Relay which will be held on 21 April 2008 in Kuala
Lumpur.
Internationally, from April 2008 the Olympic Torch Relay will travel
through 23 cities in 20 nations and 113 cities in China.
“Samsung shares the passion that fans across the world have for the
Olympics. Letting fans experience the excitement of the world’s most
prestigious sporting event is part of our commitment to bond with local
communities and help them be an important part of this world-class
sport event. We hope to inspire Malaysians to continue pursuing their
goals, by showing them that dreams can come true through the unique
torchbearer experience,” said Mr. Min Yong Ho, Managing Director and
Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
OCM President YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran ibni Tuanku Ja’afar said, “OCM is
delighted that Samsung has pledged their commitment to bring together
people from different walks of life to participate in the Olympic Torch
Relay in Malaysia. The Olympics are all about uniting the world through
sport and now, Malaysians have a chance to be part of this important
Olympic tradition.”
