M.A.C Contributes RM100,000 In Support Of HIV/AIDS
In
conjunction with World AIDS Day, the M·A·C AIDS FUND
today donated RM100,000 to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF).
Mr. Loo Kai Nan, Managing Director of the Estee Lauder Companies
presented the cheque to Dato’ Maznah Abdul Jalil, Trustee of MAF at the
cheque presentation ceremony held at Lot 10 shopping centre.
Earlier in the afternoon, M·A·C Cosmetics alongside its
partners, Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), KL Monorail System, Lot 10,
8TV and FlyFM worked hand-in-hand for the purpose of increasing
awareness for HIV/AIDS in a truly memorable and unusual event dubbed
the Charity Monorail Journey.
The journey began with a charity ride, complimentary of KL Monorail,
from the Medan Tuanku station to the Bukit Bintang stop. Participants,
all bearing the symbolic Red Ribbon, then proceeded to the cheque
presentation and a tête-à-tête with favourite
celebrities, Ida Nerina, Nanu Baharudin, Asraf Sinclair, Rina and Yoon
(8TV Host), John and Jane from Project Superstar 2006 and many
more.
Chery Wong, Marketing/PR Manager of M·A·C Cosmetics
commented that, “We wanted to do something different this year besides
our yearly M·A·C VIVA GLAM Lipstick campaign and
coincidently, this year the campaign was scheduled a week ahead of
World AIDS Day. Thus, we took this opportunity to generate more
awareness by organizing this Charity Monorail Journey. We are glad that
this event is a success. There are about 300 people who participated
and the celebrities’ presence really helped to pull in the crowd. We
sincerely hope that each and everyone gathered here today had a good
time and will go home knowing that they have contributed to a good
cause.”
M·A·C Cosmetics have always been an avid supporter
towards the fight against HIV/AIDS. In 1994, M·A·C
Cosmetics established the M·A·C AIDS Fund as its
charitable arm to support lives of many men, women and children living
with HIV/AIDS globally. That very same year, the VIVA GLAM Lipstick was
also introduced. As such, the company decided that every 100% sale of
the VIVA GLAM Lipstick would go towards the M·A·C AIDS
Fund. Now on its sixth edition, this campaign has raised more than $70
million worldwide for the M·A·C AIDS Fund.
