The Red Ribbon Gala 2006 is Back and Better Than Ever!
The
Malaysian AIDS Foundation’s (MAF) most celebrated biennial charity gala
– the Red Ribbon Gala is back! Held for the fifth time since its
introduction in 1996, the Red Ribbon Gala, will be held on Sunday, 5
November 2006 at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur and will be graced by
YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of
Malaysia and the Patron of MAF YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Traditionally a much-anticipated, high profile and prestigious event,
this year’s Red Ribbon Gala has an even more exciting programme lined
up with a special show by Malaysian-born international designer Bernard
Chandran, who has made a mark in Europe in 2004 with the opening of his
store in London and the launch of his very first highly acclaimed
Autumn/Winter 2006 Ready-to-Wear collection during the London Fashion
Week earlier this year.
Themed ‘Fire and Ice’, the special show will witness famous socialites
and their daughters taking to the catwalk strutting their stuff in
Bernard Chandran’s creations and stunning jewellery by Chopard.
Guests are set to be dazzled by some outstanding one-of-a kind
jewellery pieces, flown in especially for the Red Ribbon Gala by
Chopard.
The evening’s auction will also feature some plush, luxury items
including a stunning men’s watch worth RM40,240 and a ladies’ diamond
pendant worth RM56,230 donated by Chopard.
The MAF and MAC will also be presenting the Dr. Siti Hasmah Award
(DSHA) 2006 and the DaimlerChrysler Red Ribbon Media Awards (RRMA) at
the Gala. The prestigious Dr. Siti Hasmah Award is presented to
an individual or organization in recognition of their outstanding
contributions in challenging the negative impact of HIV/AIDS in
Malaysia, whilst the RRMA, sponsored by DaimlerChrysler Malaysia,
recognizes media professionals for giving an exceptional contribution
to society by writing, reporting and producing programmes on HIV and
AIDS in a manner that raises awareness, combats stigma and gives hope
and solidarity to people living with HIV/AIDS. DaimlerChrysler
Malaysia will also be sponsoring a 10-day field trip to South Africa
for this year’s DCRRMA winners.
