CA Invests RM12 Million in Technology Alliance with Multimedia
University
CA
Malaysia today inked an agreement with Multimedia University towards a
technology alliance that would help to better equip more Malaysian
undergraduates with the latest in technical and industry know-how.
Witnessed by YB Dato’ Kong Cho Ha, Deputy Minister of Science,
Technology and Innovation, the partnership will see Multimedia
University information technology (IT) undergraduates gain invaluable
exposure and hands-on experience in the latest technology and industry
solutions via CA labs established at the university’s campuses in
Cyberjaya and Malacca.
“IT is an ever evolving and rapidly developing industry. There is
urgent need to enhance the relevance of our ICT syllabuses, especially
considering that some 70 percent who graduated from public universities
and institutions of higher learning are unemployed, of which almost 20
percent of this number are ICT graduates ,” said Ms Queenie Wong,
managing director of CA Malaysia.
Voicing concern over the dilemma faced by ICT graduates in Malaysia, Ms
Queenie said, “We need to narrow the skills gap and make course
syllabuses more relevant to the needs of the real world, in order to
safeguard their future and that of the IT industry in Malaysia. This is
why we are investing RM12 million in a technology alliance with
Multimedia University.”
“Multimedia University was an obvious choice for us given their
readiness to work closely with the industry to produce even better
graduates with appropriate skill sets. The fact that Multimedia
University can boast an impressive 94 percent graduate employability
within just six months of graduation attests to their commitment to
excellence, as well as ability to stay current in meeting industry
demands,” Ms Queenie added.
The alliance will see the establishment of CA labs at Multimedia
University’s campuses in Cyberjaya and Malacca, which will give the
students invaluable hands-on access and exposure to CA’s worldclass
technologies and solutions. CA will also be actively involved in
encouraging the students to continuously strive for excellence and
improvement through academic awards, competitions, conferences and
other initiatives.
