ISAC-M & MIRC Partner to Help Technopreneurs Enhance Quality
The
Independent Software Architect Council of Malaysia (ISAC-M) joined
forces with the MCA ICT Resource Centre (MIRC), to facilitate the
sharing of software architecture expertise and resources towards
furthering the competitiveness of Malaysia’s technopreneur community.
The formalizing of the partnership was witnessed by YB Dato’ Kong Cho
Ha, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation at ISAC-M’s
Architect Symposium 2006.
The partnership is in line with ISAC-M’s call for greater use of proper
software architecture in Malaysia, and was initiated to lend over 2,000
of the nation’s technopreneurs a helping hand in becoming
internationally acknowledged producers of ICT products and services.
Upon officiating the Symposium, YB Dato’ Kong Cho Ha, commended ISAC-M
for their efforts in reaching out and educating software developers on
the importance of software architecture. He identified proper software
architecture as a vital element in establishing the Malaysian software
developer community as an internationally acknowledged producer of
quality software, as well as in the nation’s bid to move up the value
chain to provide the global market with international quality products
and solutions for outsourced services.
“The demand for more sophisticated and complex IT solutions is on the
rise globally. To be competitive, our technopreneurs must move up the
value chain. We cannot compete with the likes of India and China based
on cost, so we must work towards being recognized for higher quality,
skills and expertise. Proper software architecture, as well as the use
of best-of-breed platforms and tools is crucial in this endeavour and
towards the maturing of Malaysia’s software development industry,” said
Aaron Tan Dani, co-founder of ISAC-M and architect & platform
strategy advisor with Microsoft Malaysia.
“We are delighted to partner with ISAC-M to help more technopreneurs
use proper methodology and design in their software development
efforts. We are confident that they will benefit from our software
architecture resource centre. More importantly, they will also benefit
from ISAC-M’s involvement in our incubation programme and clinics,
through which they will share industry expertise towards creating
quality products based on sound architecture,” said Andrew Wong, chief
executive officer of MIRC.
Software architecture is the blueprint that provides a holistic view of
the composition and functionality of a software system. Like a
structural architect, software architects need to have breadth and
depth of experience of being able to analyze requirements, determine
components, guide and solve problems during implementation in order to
ensure an end product that is coherent, powerful and effective.
