Property Rights Seminar
Datuk
Mohd Shafie Apdal, the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs,
today officially launched the Joint Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
Seminar themed “IP Creation and Development in Government Departments,
R&D Institutions and Universities”.
The Seminar was organized by the Intellectual Property Alumni
Association of Malaysia (IPAAM), a non-profit association dedicated to
the dissemination of intellectual property awareness to the Malaysian
public, trade and industry, together with the Perbadanan Harta Intelek
Malaysia (MyIPO), Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Japan Institute of
Invention and Innovation (JIII).
The two-day Seminar attended by more than 120 individuals from the
trade and industry, government, education sector, legal firms and the
intellectual property service community, is targeted towards fostering
greater understanding of IP creation and development of intellectual
property, which are becoming critically important all around the world
due to the phenomenon of increasing dominance of the new knowledge
economy over the old ‘brick & mortar’ economy.
