DeGem Presents the Legendary ‘FABERGÉ’

DeGem, the country’s custodian of an illustrious reputation for style, quality and craftsmanship, together with Dr. Marcus O. Mohr, President and Managing Director of Victor Mayer GmbH & Co KG today jointly presented a spectacular collection of Fabergé Masterpieces here at the ballroom of Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, in absolute grandeur and style.

DeGem and Fabergé proudly presented to their elite guests more than 500 pieces of Fabergé Masterpieces inclusive of Fabergé Jewels, Fabergé Precious Watches and Fabergé Objets d’Art. These exquisite pieces were bathed in a grand and opulent setting and ambience, resembling the resplendent signature European style.

“Peter Carl Fabergé created the exquisite masterpieces of jewellery way back in 1842 and they still fascinate people and collectors alike today. Each work of art is imbued with a sense of history and delicacy of design, setting a new standard in artistic excellence. We are thrilled to be partnering with Victor Mayer GmbH & Co KG, the exclusive worldwide work master company for Fabergé gems, as the exclusive and sole distributor in Malaysia for these fine masterpieces,” said Stephen Choong, Executive Director, DeGem.

Truly the purveyors of luxury and style in high-jewellery, DeGem presented the awesome Fabergé Dragon Egg, which had a handsome male model striding out in grandeur with the Dragon Egg to mark a magnificent opening for the exclusive dinner. The Dragon Egg is a Limited Edition piece that was made especially for DeGem in representation of the Asian market.

Commenting on the Fabergé Dragon Egg, Stephen Choong, Executive Director, DeGem said, “The Fabergé Dragon Egg is indeed a rare beauty. The body and foot are ornamented with diamonds amounting to 8.89 carats, with a South Sea pearl on top. A hidden handle at the base of the object opens the Egg and unveils the dragon made from Jade. The specialty about this enamel is the multicolor effect due to a special treatment called the opalescent enamels, which is a rare technique that Peter Carl Fabergé was famous for.”

Dedicated to providing the finest of jewels from around the world, DeGem also took this opportunity to launch for the first time ever in Malaysia, the Fabergé precious watch collections. The two main collections showcased were the Agathon (Gent Watches) and Anastasia (Lady Watches).  The Fabergé Agathon platinum watch, which is limited to 10 pieces worldwide, made its debut in Asia tonight at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. These showpieces of fine craftsmanship are uniquely and instantly recognizable as a Fabergé, from the enameling of the oval egg-inspired dial to the small egg at the top of the buckle engraved with the initial “F”.

In explaining the rare beauty of the luxury watches, Dr. Marcus O. Mohr explained, “The exquisite masterpieces are a meticulous work of art. Everything is handmade with special tools. The enamel dials cannot be crafted using computer technology. The watch dial undergoes at least three to four layers of enameling. It is also a physical requirement to do counter enameling for the back for the watch. The dial is made from a thin piece of gold and tends to transform its shape during enameling. If it bends, we cannot use it and have to repeat the entire process.  The watches are very unique because only rare and traditional techniques are used.”

The breathtaking presentation continued with the showcase of Fabergé Jewellery – pretty little egg pendants, bracelets, as well as earrings, rings, and cufflinks. The jewels are made from 18kt yellow or white gold, crafted using French enamel.

True to its commitment, DeGem is dedicated in providing customers with sterling service, always with a personal touch and most notably today, exquisite masterpieces and true works of art that inspire a lifetime.

The night ended as guests filtered home slowly satisfied with the exclusive presentation of the imperial Fabergé, wonderful night of good food, great entertainment and new friends made.
