Lazare Kaplan International Inc. Today, in true haute couture style, Lazare presented the unparalleled allure of diamonds with the showcase of Le Papillon, the US$ 1 million dollar (RM3.8 million) two-piece diamond studded creation that consists a camisole and a low hip long flowy skirt bedecked with 2,000 ideal cut Lazare diamonds. Le Papillon, an exquisite creation by Bonita Cheung, an acclaimed fashion designer from Hong Kong, stood proudly aglow in a total of 300 carats of diamonds set in 31 platinum strands and weighs approximately 1.5kg. Aptly named “Le Papillon” as the French synonym for ‘butterfly’, the design resembles a dazzling butterfly when view from behind. The back of the camisole is composed almost entirely of multiple strands of platinum set with Lazare brilliant cut diamonds, which are draped sensuously in two sections to suggest the open wings of the delicate butterfly. Bonita’s intimate knowledge in high fashion coupled with her taste and design ability stemmed this inspiration for the butterfly-like design and the use of soft chiffon in aqua blue. According to Laura Chow, Regional Director and Vice President SE Asia, Lazare Kaplan, the ensemble displayed an array of flawless craftsmanship of the company’s 100 years of legacy and authority in diamonds.
