Malaysian On The Right Track To Drive Economic Growth and Developing A Knowledge Society

Intellectual Property (IP) specialist corporation Advanz Fidelis Sdn Bhd is upbeat about the growth of IP in Malaysia as the awareness of IP and the appreciation of the role of IP in business increases across the industry.

Speaking to reporters at an educational media workshop on 26 August entitled “Intellectual Property Fundamentals”, Advanz Fidelis Executive Director Chuah Jern Ern said that Malaysia was geared to catch up with fully industrialized nations in terms of IP Development.

Elaborating on developments on the local IP landscape, Chuah noted that the Government incorporated the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (PHIM) to assume the duties of the IP Office in Malaysia.  Its primary objectives are to establish an efficient body for the prosecution and maintenance of IP rights in Malaysia, to play a larger role in IP development in the international stage, to play a wider role in the local development of IP and to create a larger base of IP professionals and experts in the country.

“Advanz Fidelis remains committed to support the government’s initiative in providing greater support and facilities to drive greater Intellectual Property awareness in Malaysia,” said Chuah.

The Advanz Fidelis website (www.advanz.com.my) will serve as an educational tool for those who would like to familiarize themselves with IP.  The website provides a comprehensive resource on IP information including a library that provides the latest IP news and developments in the IP industry, reference articles, updated statistics, Frequently Asked Questions as well as a checklist for registering protections.
