Suria KLCC Fashion Flair Contest 2004
Twelve
gutsy, young Malaysian fashionistas displayed their stunning flair for
fashion in impressive 1950s influenced fashion style at the Suria KLCC
Fashion Flair Contest, which took place at the Centre Court, Concourse
level of Suria KLCC on 23 April 2004.
Themed the “Riviera 50s”, the twelve ladies, who were the finalists of
the Suria KLCC Fashion Flair Contest, were required to come in black
pants or black skirts and their glamorous 1950s ensembles. They
were given RM300 a week earlier to shop for their ensembles including
the top and accessories only from Suria KLCC’s specialty stores
(excluding anchor departmental stores like Isetan and Parkson Grand).
The five judges, Dayang Nor Camelia, Malaysia’s popular singer,
Sharifah Kirana, Fashion Designer, Melvin Lam, Publisher of V-Mag
Magazine, Natasha Hashim, last year’s Fashion Flair winner and Rafidah
Jalil, Senior Marketing Manager of Suria KLCC and also the Head Judge,
selected the three winners with the best Fashion Flair.
“Femininity and glamour are the key elements, thus paying attention to
details and playing mix-and-match with accessories like pretty corsages
or bows to add on to the effects of glamour were some of the main
basics that we judges were looking for,” said Datin Rafidah Jalil.
“The aim of running these events is to showcase and bring out the
distinctive characteristics of fashion at Suria KLCC, which include
creativity, diversity, variety and affordability, and to further
establish our centre as THE ‘fashion centre’,” added Datin Rafidah.
The winners of the fashion flair were Shariffah Nadia bt. Syed Alwi
Alhabshi (1st Prize winner), Ho Pei Shi (2nd prize winner) and Zaiyanis
Bt. Mohamad Zin (3rd prize winner).
